5 Extinctions
There have been 5 mass extinctions on Earth. The extinctions are The Ordovician, late Devonian, End Permian, Triassic, and Cretaceous mass extinctions. The Ordovician extinction was 444 million years ago and 86% of species were lost, one being the Graptolite species. The Late Devonian extinction was 375 million years ago and 75% of species were lost, one of the species is the Trilobite. End Permian extinction was 251 million years ago and this was known as "The Great Dying" because it was the worst extinction out of all. 96% off all species died; it took earth millions of years to recover. The End Triassic was the most enigmatic extinction. There was no clear cause found for this extinction. It was 200 million years ago and 80% of all species were lost. The End Cretaceous extinction was 66 millions years ago and 76% of the species were died. All of these were caused by natural causes but the extinction were in right now is being caused by us.
What history will be made if the extinction continueSAll the extinctions before had an impact on the world. Some greater than others but they all changed how things worked. The Sixth Extintion or The Holocene extinction will change a lot of things if it continues. There are animals that are already in critical danger like the Sumatran rhinoceros and the Blue-knobbed Curassow. The extinction can change how humans live and most importantly how the food web and food chain function. This extinction should be taken seriously and should be of up most importance to society.
Why this extinction is different from the rest. There have been 5 other extinctions in history. There is one thing the makes the Sixth extinction different from the rest. The extinction were in right now is directly being caused by harmful activities by us. Where taking land faster than were repairing it. We're are hunting animals extinct without thinking of the consequences. The difference is that we can actually do something got stop this. We may be causing it which in unacceptable, but we can also do something to stop it. There are many things we can do to stop this extinction from happening, but we have to want to stop it. We have to work together to stop it.

This is definitely not the only article about this subject. There are many scientists out there who have written articles and books like "The Sixth Extinction" by Elizabeth Kolbert. Elizabeth Kolbert wrote a book about how we are currently in a man-made sixth extinction. She also talks about species that have gone extinct and focuses on the effects of humans on the environment. Books and articles are written to make people aware about how bad this situation can get if we don't stop it.
the 6th extinctionThe 6th Extinction is being caused by humans. Many animals that are being hunted for their skin or horns are in danger of being extinct or have gone extinct. Cutting down forest is also killing animals because that is their home. This extinction began when we mindlessly started to cut down forests and hunt animals. This is a crisis that doesn't seem to be anyone's priority yet, but it will become priority when everything is more the effects are more noticeable. We shouldn't let it get to that point, that is why we should act now and think more about the environment instead of ourselves. We do live off the environment and if we don't care for it it won't care for us.
